_ i discovered art at 31 and i think that drives me to work with platforms that provide children with access to art. Tom Borgas produced really generous work that went through a whole spectrum of child enjoyment and childish maltreatment. this work (and the work in a gutted archival storage room in a loft) provided about 100 kids with a tangible experience of creativity expressed in the world. and in a way that invited their actual participation, whether by moving blocks with white gloves on, or by jumping over bright blue grids in a reddened pine forest. KCAT was conscientiously an open event for art nerds and for art novices. not just because we wanted it to be that way, but because the artists all have a characteristic of generosity in their practice. and they made the event this way as a result of the work they produced. _ @tomborgas #kcat2018 #forcefields

_ i think it’s going to take a few weeks for me to come down from cloud KCAT. it’s been truly magical. Andrew (on the right) is 82 years old and worked in the Ajax Pumps Foundry from the 1950s. he was full of stories and so obviously pleased to see inside the building again. but even more special, was the palpable sense that he was proud of his work and grateful that it was being honoured by Georgie Mattingley through her beautiful artwork. and through Zoë Barry’s soundscapes and audio recordings of recounted personal histories. i just happened to bump into him when i was checking on our volunteers to make sure they were ok. he grabbed me and told me about workplace injuries, the divided zones of labour and skill, and why various patches of concrete were burnt and discoloured. _ @georgmat @zedoheedotdot #kcat2018 #forcefields #imnotcryingitsdustinmyeyes
